HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! HAPPENINGS AROUND GLENDORA AND LA VERNE!

Okay, so I'm off to Las Vegas until Friday!  I love it when my husband has vacation time.  BUT, I will be back for all of the fun... America's birthday!  How exciting! (Not that I'm patriotic or anything...)

Here is a link to the happenings in Glendora.  I guess Glendorans are early risers as the pancake breakfast starts at 6:30 AM.  Personally, it's a holiday, I don't plan on being up at 6:30, but more power to 'em!  Since I grew up in Glendora, a mere two towns away from my home in La Verne, I went to all the parades as a kid.  It was fun because ALL of the kids in town are there and you could always run into your friends from school.  This years parade starts at 9 AM.  There will be classic cars, (Glendora is nothing if not classic car enthusiasts) and live music and a barbecue starting around 11 AM.  Good fun times to be had by all!

La Verne is boasting a pancake breakfast, again with the 6:30... really?  At 8 am there will be a Country Fair at a local elementary school complete with a pancake eating contest and the Mayor's Military recognition ceremony.  I LOVE that La Verne is a patriotic town, 'cause I'm a patriotic kinda girl!  Anyway, 9:45 begins the pre-parade Harley Davidson ride, and at 10AM, the parade begins!  After al break - maybe a nap after getting up so early - there is a deep-pit barbecue at the La verne Methodist Church.  And HERE is the link to all of that.

Every year Bonita High School in La Verne hosts a spectacular fireworks show in the football stadium. Tickets are $6/adults and $5 kids for same day purchase or they can be purchased in advance. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at the La Verne Chamber of Commerce and City Hall. This year the gates are opening at 6PM and the show will begin at 7.  Sadly, this is one of the few remaining stadium firework shows around.
